Insa took a four-day trip to Belgium and visited three cities. In addition to sightseeing and Belgian waffles, she also tried couch surfing and had locals show her the best spots. Here is her travel journal:
Day 1: Bruges
After arriving on the night train, she arrived in Bruges early in the morning. First, she dropped off her luggage at her accommodation and then started the day with a delicious coffee and breakfast while most of the other tourists were still asleep.
Highlights in Bruges:
- Belgian chocolate
- Lake of Love and its fairytale story
Day 2: Ghent
The next morning, she enjoyed another delicious breakfast in Bruges and then took the train to Ghent. The train connections are very regular and traveling by train was pleasant. In Ghent, Insa tried couch surfing and got to meet some really nice locals. Ghent had a very student vibe and was a lot of fun. In addition to sightseeing, bar hopping was also on the agenda. Belgian beer is also highly recommended, as are Belgian fries (also as a midnight snack).
Highlights in Ghent:
- Couch Surfing
- City center
- Graffiti Street
- Bar des Amis
Day 3: Brussels
From Ghent, she took the train to Brussels. Again, the connection was straightforward and highly recommended. Once she arrived in Brussels, she visited all the main sights, which were well worth seeing. The Grand Place was the highlight. Manneken Pis, who is always dressed differently, was also worth a photo. Brussels offered many opportunities for good food and relaxing breaks in great cafés. Overall, one night in Brussels is almost too short to see everything the capital has to offer. This was definitely not our last visit.
Highlights in Brussels:
- Grand Place
- Planet Happiness
- Manneken Pis
- Mont des Arts
