Histoire du voyage
In the heart of Norway's majestic wilderness, the journey to Trolltunga is a strenuous trek that rewards you with incredible views of towering mountains, green valleys and serene fjords. This iconic rock formation, whose name translates to Troll's Tongue, rises 700 meters above the Ringedalsvatnet Lake. But the journey does not end at the rock formation. Instead, it extends into the surrounding areas, where many more wonders of nature await. From the roaring cascades of Oddadalen to the icy beauty of Folgefonna National Park, the area surrounding Trolltunga is a treasure trove for any avid explorer.
The 28-kilometer (17 miles) round-trip hike is a challenging yet rewarding experience that winds through rugged landscapes with striking panoramas at every turn. Starting in Skjeggedal, the trail climbs through a mix of rocky and forested terrain where you can catch views of the lush Hardangervidda plateau and the Ringedalsvatnet Lake. Stop at the Mågelitopp plateau for a breathtaking view of the mountains. The Trolltunga trail requires stamina and perseverance. Once you've arrived, setting foot on Trolltunga will fill you with a sense of accomplishment, and the panoramic views of the fjord, glaciers and mountains will be well worth every step of the way.
Oddadalen is a beautiful valley with a series of spectacular waterfalls. Låtefossen, with its twin cascades merging into a roaring river, is arguably the most dramatic of the three. Surrounded by lush greenery and an archaic stone bridge, the view of Låtefossen is like a scene from a fairy tale. Further up the valley, you'll find the secluded Tjørnadalsfossen. Finally, there is Vidfossen, where the cascade plunges dramatically into the river below.
Folgenfonna National Park is home to one of Norway's largest glaciers and offers a variety of activities. Take a guided glacier hike that brings you close to the ancient ice formations. If you like to ski, you can enjoy the summer ski center on the glacier. The park also has a variety of trails from which to enjoy stunning views of the fjords and the glacier itself.
