Wide beaches, densely overgrown #forests, lakes, castles and above all a lot of #nature: Latvia is a real rough diamond in the #Baltic States and almost cries out with its untouched beauty and naturalness to be explored by hikers, bathing beauties and nature lovers.

Our Highlights

Riga

The capital of the country is the place where the magic happens: numerous #colourful art nouveau houses - such as the famous Blackheads House or "The Three Brothers" - are joined by several impressive cathedrals and #churches (St. Jacob's Cathedral, Petri church, Cathedral of Riga), an experimental and extremely #tasty cuisine, a crazy #nightlife with many bars and #parties as well as a really modern #art scene. In Riga, there is something for everyone!

Sigulda

The area around Sigulda, situated 50 km north of Riga, is characterised by especially one thing: Castles, castles and once again #castles! The restored Turaida castle and the Krimulda castle #ruin in the west, whose history go back almost 800 years, are particularly noteworthy. But also the landscape in and around Sigulda is an absolute eyecatcher, so that you can quickly understand why the almost 12,000 inhabitants on the eastern shore of the Gauja call their city the "Latvian Switzerland".

Liepaja

If you are looking for white beaches and the sea but also for a little craziness and something #bizarre, you will feel at home in Liepaja. The port city in the west of the country is the third largest city in Latvia and has several beautiful #beaches, including Liepaja Beach, where you can relax wonderfully during the summer. If you want to have a very #special and lasting experience, you can register for an overnight stay in the military prison #Karosta, which is open to tourists. According to the legend, the #prison is even haunted: light bulbs are said to have screwed themselves out of their sockets, cell doors shall have opened on their own. So don't forget to think of your flashlight and perhaps save the number of the Ghost Busters in advance. Who you gonna call?
