Good to Know:

  • Getting There: Getting to Bora Bora is quite a trek. First, you'll fly into one of the major airports on the U.S. West Coast, Auckland, New Zealand, or Tokyo. From there, fly to Tahiti's Faa'a Int'l Airport. Here you can take a connecting flight to Bora Bora's Airport on Mute Island or take a ferry. The latter is a scenic two-and-a-half-hour boat ride past other islands and atolls.
  • Getting Around: Your resort will probably pick you up at the Airport or harbor and take you to your accommodation. Boat shuttles should run regularly between the smaller islands or resorts and the main island, which can be explored in a day or two. To get around the main island, take a taxi or rent a scooter!
  • When to Visit: May through October is Bora Bora's peak season. However, April and November are also great times to visit the island, as the rainy season has yet to begin.
  • How Long to Visit: Four days is plenty of time to see the main attractions. But since you'll probably want to spend some time lounging on the island's incredible beaches, plan on staying for about a week.

Highlights:

For anyone visiting Bora Bora, swimming and sunbathing is one of the main reasons to make the long trek to the island. The crystal clear waters and pristine white sand beaches provide the perfect backdrop for a day of relaxation and rejuvenation. Be sure to bring sunscreen and a good book, as you'll likely spend most of your time soaking up the sun and taking in the scenery. There are also plenty of opportunities for snorkeling and other water-based activities for those who prefer to stay active.

Romantic dining in Bora Bora is a truly memorable experience not to be missed. With various beachside and overwater dining options, you'll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy a romantic meal with your loved one. The island is famous for its stunning sunsets, which provide the perfect backdrop for a night of dining and romance. From fresh seafood to classic French cuisine, there's something for everyone on the menu. Make reservations in advance, as many of the most popular restaurants fill up quickly.

Hiking Mount Pahia is a challenging but rewarding experience for the adventurous. The mountain offers panoramic views of the island and its surroundings, making it a popular destination for hikers and photographers alike. The hike is steep and challenging, but the views from the summit are worth every step. The trail is well-maintained and well-marked, making it accessible to most people with a moderate fitness level. However, if you're not an avid hiker, don't plan on reaching the top, as the views are incredible even from halfway up.
