Trip story

Aspen is a famous resort town in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. In the winter, you'll be surrounded by stunning mountain views and ski slopes. In the summer, you can take advantage of the many hiking trails. Other outdoor activities include rafting and fishing. Aspen also has an active cultural scene, hosting renowned year-round music and food festivals.

Good to Know:

  • Getting There: Fly into Denver Int'l Airport, where you can take another flight directly to Aspen or rent a car and drive five hours to Aspen.
  • Getting Around: A shuttle runs between the town and the airport. The downtown area is walkable, so there's only a need for a car if you also explore the area around Aspen.
  • When to Visit: The slopes are at their best from December through February. If you want to visit outside of skiing season, we recommend March through May for fewer crowds.

There are four ski areas in town, each offering a unique skiing experience. You'll find slopes for all levels, from beginner to expert. The resorts have state-of-the-art lift systems, making climbing and enjoying the slopes easy. In addition to skiing, you can participate in other winter activities such as snowshoeing, ice skating, and après-ski events.

John Denver Sanctuary:

The John Denver Sanctuary is a popular place to picnic, meditate and watch birds. The Sanctuary is located on the Rio Grande Trail, which you can follow for a while to experience your beautiful surroundings.
